A List of Cool Things I Want to Do in 2025 - Behind the Pod
Between Two Beers Newsletter
This week I returned to Between Two Beers headquarters after three weeks off the tools.
It was my first break as a full-time business owner - and it hit a bit different.
After Christmas, it took me about four days to close all the open tabs in my head, and let go - and then I had the most epic time being present with family. There’s no freedom quite like turning your phone off.
But there was also an underlying feeling of excitement; of energy to build into 2025.
2025 is set to be our biggest yet
One of my goals this year is to connect into the epic network of former guests we’ve had on the show – and to learn from them.
And I got off to a flyer last week when I drove from Hamilton to Takapuna to spend 90 minutes with Shaun Quincey (the bloke who rowed the Tasman solo and then built a series of epic businesses).
It’s been my most valuable conversation of 2025 and is a contender to hold that place by the end of the year.
We talked kids, relationships, life-planning and business. I left feeling supercharged, inspired - and connected.
Shaun emphasized the importance of personal goals for him - and it inspired me to write mine down.
So here’s a list of cool things I want to do in 2025:
1 coffee a month with a B2B mentor
Record a podcast with Steven Adams
Travel to Australia to record with some international legends
Host three live shows in Hamilton, Christchurch and Wellington
Get the golf handicap down to 12 (currently 20) – and film some golf content!
Record a podcast with Lorde
Build a Hamilton studio
Launch a Between Two Beers beer
Do 50+ Reflections interviews with our team
Crack 200k listeners per month for B2B
Weekly dates with my wife
Coach my boys' footy teams
Turn my phone off on Saturdays!
Let's see how we go!!

Sneak peak: Our episode on Monday features one of the greatest All Blacks of all time!
Sean Fitzpatrick is also the Chairman of the Laureus World Sport Academy and the stories he tells in this one of what his job is, the sporting superstars he now calls friends – and how he’s helping make an impact on the world – will blow you away.
We hear about going to Sierre Leone with Tony Hawke, catching up with Rory McIlroy at a NZ golf course and dinner with Tom Brady, just to scratch the surface.
In this one we talk leadership, business lessons, revolutionizing captaincy, Nelson Mandela, Jonah Lomu the future of rugby and so much more.
Don't miss it!
