What 'Hambassador' Really Means - Behind the Pod

Hamilton USED to have a PR problem.
The age-old, tired, Hamilton gag goes something like this:
What’s the one good thing about Hamilton?
It’s only an hour away from somewhere better.
Get out!
When Seamus and I started the Between Two Beers podcast, five years ago in my Hamilton garage – we often noticed hints of disdain towards our beautiful city, when talking to Aucklanders.
It didn’t sit right with us, so we decided to fight back.
We coined the phrase ‘Hambassador’, which describes someone who is proud to be from Hamilton and will stand up for the city in the face of criticism.
The movement proved more powerful than we could have expected, with Hamilton last year crowned NZ’s fastest-growing city
Last week we were invited to share our love for Hamilton with Chris Chang, which inspired us to write a list of our favourite things about the city
Home of Murray Rose Barber - NZ's best technician with thinning hairlines
Home of Golden Dragon takeaways - NZ's best chinese smorgasboard
Home of the Hamilton Lake playground - NZ's best playground
Home of Chris Wood - NZ's best footballer
Home of Hamilton Boys High School - NZ's best rugby school
Home of the Harvard of the Pacific (University of Waikato)
Home of Daniel Vettori - NZ's best spinner who looks like a wizard
NOT the home of chlamydia - that was just something Havoc and Newsboy made up
Home of safety, not prone to natural disasters, a mid-point of population distribution
After consideration, I think its also clear Hamilton should be the nations' capital!
